Putting a website live is the start of the work, not the end. The first few weeks after launch decide whether the site gets found, stays fast and stays safe. These seven steps cover what to do once your new or rebuilt website is online.
1. Check the on-page SEO basics
Every page needs its own title, a clear description and one main heading that says what the page is about. Check that old addresses redirect to the new ones, so links from Google and other sites still work. If the site is bilingual, confirm that each Arabic page is linked to its English version.
2. Set up Google Search Console
Search Console shows how Google sees your site. Verify the domain, submit your sitemap and request indexing for your most important pages. Look at the Pages report after a week to catch anything Google could not read.
3. Install analytics and track enquiries
Visitor numbers alone tell you little. Set up analytics so that form submissions, phone taps and WhatsApp clicks are counted. Then you can see which pages and which sources bring real enquiries.
4. Test speed on a phone
Run your main pages through PageSpeed Insights and open them on a real phone using mobile data. Large images, videos that load immediately and unused plugins are the usual causes of slow pages, and all of them can be fixed.
5. Secure the site
Use HTTPS on every page, strong passwords and two-step login for administrators. Remove test accounts and any plugins you no longer use. Limit admin access to the people who need it.
6. Schedule backups and updates
Set automatic backups and store a copy away from the web server. Test that a backup can actually be restored. Apply updates to the CMS, theme and plugins regularly, because outdated software is one of the most common ways sites get hacked.
7. Plan regular content
A site that never changes slowly drops out of search results. Plan a simple schedule: a useful article, a new case study or an updated service page each month. Write about the questions your customers ask before they buy.
